AARRGH.... there a limit in the number of audio files!

Please send my woes to Thomson..... here is my story:
I was looking for a multimedia HD recorder that could hold many files since I wanted to copy my digitalized vynil lp collection. I thus asked to web.serviceconso@thomson.net if the dth8560 had such a limit.
The answer was a CLEAR NO: "There is no such limit" they wrote. Black ink on white paper. It could not be any clearer.

So there I happily went and purchased the DTH8560, on which I have copied (with some starting problems, see my post in the BUG section) song after song for a couple of weeks until yesterday.
That's when I bumped into the 10000th song copied.... and realized that, even though the HD was still more than half free, ANY attempt to copy any more songs would fail.
So THE LIMIT IS THERE (10000 items) and frankly, what I would say - if I want to be fair - is that the helpline works without a full knowledge of the products they're supporting. Or worse... they cheated on me knowingly?
Well who cares, what matters now is that the limit is there and I suppose there is no way to remove it than having a firmware upgrade that settle things right.

SO again it's a strong call to Thomson: UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE!

Of course if anybody else has a trick or workaround, please let me know!

I think it's the limit of items number in the same directory. Your hd is formated in NTFS mode. In a PC, perhaps there is the same limit (I thought 65536 ...). The solution will be to create sub-directory, but I don't know if it's possible on a DTH.

Hmmm.... please let me know: when you copy mp3 tracks from a cd they are visualised by the dth as a single entity (a "registrazione" in italian") in the library, inizially named with date/time of copying, and I thought that each entity was a folder inside the audio library folder. From what you write I understand instead that all tracks are put togheter in a single folder, and the "registrazioni" are group visualized by the interface only.
By the way the Thomson hotline that I contacted about this problem announced that they have the 5.38 firmware, but that it's not available online (God knows why), and they are sending it to me on a CD. However they say there is nothing new in this area.

I have downloaded and installed 5.38 firmware but it does not seem to make a difference on the limited number of items in the audio library.... besides, I have been advised by the thomson hotline to format the HD after the upgrade.
Since this would mean to restart from scratch the copy of 10000 mp3 songs on the HD, I was wondering if there is some document explainig what the advantages of the HD format will be, so to make a sensible decision....
